Director- Technical Accounting

Senior Manager, Global Technical Accounting

The position will work closely with external auditors and reports to the Senior Director, Global Technical Accounting. We seek an individual who is eager to learn and grow as demonstrates leadership capabilities in a financial statement reporting and technical accounting analysis role. We are looking for someone who has a strong technical foundation in accounting while demonstrating attention to detail and desire to dive-in and roll-up your sleeves to gain a solid understanding over the company, the industry in which the we operate in, and what financial results, financial trends, and key financial and investor metrics say about our business.

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Perform technical research and consult with management and the external auditors to ensure that proper accounting treatment is applied and documented for all transactions, including unusual and non-recurring transactions
  • Review the quarterly financial statements and prepare certain disclosures as needed
  • Prepare the annual disclosure checklist
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls as it relates to the monthly and quarterly financial reporting processes
  • Partner with the global consolidation team to develop a global external reporting process to capture US GAAP information needed from 85+ countries for external reporting purposes
  • Complete the ASC 805 business combination technical accounting analysis and opening balance sheet reconciliations for US and Global acquisitions
  • Prepare consolidation analyses for joint ventures under ASC 810, Consolidations
  • Own the evaluation of the accounting treatment for all significant accounting transactions, research and implement relevant accounting standards, and draft technical accounting memorandums on significant and complex transactions to support accounting positions.
  • Responsible for the appropriate US GAAP application of pension accounting, hedging and stock-based compensation.
  • Review monthly and quarterly management reporting prepared by FP&A for completeness and accuracy
  • Lead automation initiatives related to internal and external reporting
  • Stay abreast of changes and activities in the Company and the industry to ensure that their effects are properly reflected in the Company’s quarterly and annual financial statements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance required.
  • CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 6-8 years of progressive accounting management experience, preferably in a Big 4 accounting firm.
  • Ability to successfully work at a very detailed level, as well as the ability to communicate high level with executive management. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills and the demonstrated ability to manage numerous projects/deliverables simultaneously against set deadlines
  • Strong analytical abilities and organizational skills are essential to success in this position.
  • High level of integrity and strict adherence to protecting confidential information.
  • Experience in designing, structuring and implementing new operational policies and processes
  • Prior SOX audit experience, desirable.
  • IPO experience a plus.
  • Position is based in Santa Ana. Periodic travel may be required.
