Youth Detention Security Officer - Access Screening

As a Youth Detention Security Officer - Access Screening in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal at a government location where you will monitor entry points, verify badges and visitor access, and support daily security-related operations through strong communication and customer service. You will remain visible, help to deter incidents, and use teamwork and integrity to support a caring, reliable, and innovative environment while making a meaningful impact each day.

What You'll Do:
- Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and/or contractors by following site-specific access control procedures, government location policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Monitor and control entry and exit points, verify identification and/or credentials, screen visitors, and maintain required logs and documentation for security-related activity.
- Respond to incidents, policy concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate with site personnel and/or public sector partners as needed.
- Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access and observe for unusual conditions or security-related concerns.
- Assist with directing foot traffic, monitoring restricted areas, and reporting maintenance, access, and/or behavioral issues through established site procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- A current tuberculosis test and MMR vaccinations are required in accordance with DPSS and DHS COLA requirements.
- At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- Access control and badge experience is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
