Allied Universal® is hiring a Physical Security Consultant. The Physical Security Consultant primarily conducts Physical Security Assessments via CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) principals and established Fairfax County Security standards of practice of all Fairfax County buildings and properties. The Physical Security Consultant will also review and provide comments for county building construction design plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform physical security assessments (PSA) at various sites throughout Fairfax County either to determine existing security vulnerabilities or to guide the installation of various types of security equipment and/or enhancements; evaluate security posture
  • Evaluate and maintain security awareness training programs; perform regular assessments of the effectiveness of training programs, create and/or update training materials and guidance documents; implement special training programs based on risk or incidents reported
  • Manage projects; delegate workload, priorities; coordinate vendors and manage quality of work product; manage deadlines to ensure timely completion of project
  • Perform training on a regular cadence to include topics such as security awareness, fire safety
  • Meet with county staff from all 46 county departments to conduct physical walkthrough security assessments of county buildings, facilities, properties, and office suites
  • Draft written Physical Security Assessment reports, documenting key information from the physical security site walkthroughs as well as the relevant security recommendations for each PSA report
  • Collaborate with Security Manager to finalize all written reports and work products; edit submitted reports to ensure highest quality and completeness
  • Review building construction design plans to ensure the proper security equipment and systems are appropriately included in the plans and also provides CPTED based recommendations for incorporation into the construction design plans; coordinate implementation of recommendations
  • Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with a variety of county professionals to facilitate and complete required work responsibilities
  • Ensure proper information flow to county staff as related to their job responsibilities; implement and communicate security changes
  • Provide clear and concise facts through communication means to include email, phone and in person contact
  • Ensure all work is completed in a professional and timely manner in accordance with the established county standards of practice

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in law enforcement, security, engineering, IT, security or management or related field of study
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience developing physical security assessment reports
  • Highly proficient and fully functional in Microsoft programs such as Word and able to effectively utilize all available office management technology
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments, and effectively manage deadlines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):

  • Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Certification
  • Prior experience in the commercial security industry or security related government work
  • Leadership/management work experience
  • Security technology and installation experience
  • Crime prevention/law enforcement officer experience
  • Retired law enforcement
