Security Officer Armed Perimeter Patrol Job in Chicago, Illinois

As a Security Officer Armed Perimeter Patrol in Chicago, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer at a higher education location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and respond to campus needs with professionalism. You will build positive relationships through clear communication and exceptional customer service while supporting a caring, agile, reliable, and innovative Allied Universal team that acts with integrity.

What You'll Do:
- Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus partners while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate campus contacts and/or emergency personnel as directed.
- Conduct regular and random armed patrols of campus buildings, grounds, parking areas, access points, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity.
- Monitor access to assigned areas, verify credentials when required, and report suspicious activity, hazards, and policy violations according to site procedures.
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain required documentation for incidents, patrols, and security-related observations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Have at least 1 year of armed security-related, law enforcement, or military experience.
- Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
- Possess an armed guard card or license.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
