Juvenile Detention Security Officer

As a Juvenile Detention Security Officer in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Access Control Officer at a government location, where you will monitor entry points, verify credentials, and help to support a secure environment for staff, visitors, and youth services operations. This is a driving post. You will conduct routine patrols, remain visible to help discourage incidents, and deliver professional customer service and communication while reflecting our values of agility, reliability, innovation, teamwork, and integrity.

What You'll Do:
- Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or vendors by following site-specific procedures and supporting access control activities at a government location.
- Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and/or credentials, screen authorized visitors, and maintain accurate logs of arrivals, departures, and restricted area access.
- Respond to incidents, unusual activity, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate observations according to post procedures.
- Conduct regular and random patrols around buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized access and identify security-related concerns.
- Support emergency response activities when appropriate, including directing foot traffic, assisting with controlled entry measures, and reporting security-related issues to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
Minimum Requirements:
- A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
- Possess at least 6 months of security-related experience.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Be comfortable using a computer or tablet preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
