Security Officer Part Time Screening Associate

As a Security Officer Part Time Screening Associate in Gaithersburg, MD, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking-up additional shifts when it works for you.
Pay Rate: $21.45 / Hour

DayTimeSun03:00 PM - 11:00 PMHow This Role Works:
- Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts"): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
- Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. It's all up to you.
This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.
Responsibilities:
- Provide customer service by following site-specific procedures at a government location, assisting visitors and staff with entry screening, directions, and general questions.
- Screen people, bags, packages, and other items at designated access points using assigned screening equipment and established protocols.
- Verify identification, credentials, permits, and/or access documentation before allowing entry to restricted or controlled areas.
- Respond to incidents, prohibited items, and unusual activity in a calm, problem-solving manner, and report security-related concerns through appropriate channels.
- Monitor entrances, lobby areas, and screening stations for unauthorized access and/or policy violations, helping to deter disruptions and support orderly operations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Have at least 2 years of security-related experience.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- X-ray screening experience is preferred.
- A guard card and/or license is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
