Allied Universal® is hiring a Benefits Manager. Allied Universal is seeking an experienced Health & Welfare Benefits Manager to lead the day-to-day administration of the Company's health and welfare benefit programs. Reporting to the Director of Benefits, this role provides leadership to the benefits team and serves as a trusted advisor to employees and management on benefit plans, policies, compliance requirements, and escalated issues. The Benefits Manager oversees benefits operations, open enrollment, vendor relationships, compliance activities, employee escalations, and process improvements while partnering with the Director of Benefits on strategic initiatives and enhancing the overall employee benefits experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of the Company's health and welfare benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance/AD&D, disability, flexible spending accounts, and other employee benefit programs, including benefits required under applicable local ordinances and government programs
  • Partner closely with the Director, Benefits, to ensure benefits programs are administered accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with plan provisions, company policies, and applicable laws and regulations
  • Establish and maintain effective operational processes, procedures, controls, and service standards to ensure timely and accurate benefits administration
  • Monitor benefit transactions, enrollment activity, eligibility, billing, payroll deductions, vendor files, and data integrity; identify issues and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of benefits data, records, documentation, and reports and establish appropriate controls to support data integrity and audit readiness
  • Manage, develop and provide direction to Benefits Representatives, Specialists, and administrative support staff, establishing clear priorities, performance expectations, service standards, and development opportunities
  • Oversee the resolution of employee benefit inquiries and escalated issues, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional responses
  • Partner with Human Resources, Payroll, IT, and other internal stakeholders to resolve employee issues and improve the overall benefits experience
  • Continuously evaluate opportunities to improve the employee experience, service delivery, processes, and operational efficiency
  • Manage the open enrollment process for health and welfare benefit programs, including the development of timelines, communication plan utilizing various media, system updates, coordinating with brokers and vendors
  • Stay current on changes to ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA and other applicable regulations; ensure full compliance with all state and federal regulations, reporting and filing requirements relating to all benefit plans
  • Work closely with benefit brokers and vendors to ensure timely and accurate benefit plan set-up, ACA reporting compliance, 5500 filings, IRS and DOL filings and audit responses, and all other benefit related compliance obligations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience in benefits field, with a strong working knowledge of benefits administration in a dynamic service environment
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a management role
  • Experience with vendor and broker management
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with the Department of Labor and Internal Revenue Service
  • Experience and proficiency using automated systems to administer benefit programs
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal regulations relating to benefit plans and all applicable laws relating to benefit administration (including COBRA and ERISA) and be able to effectively work within company policies and state/federal laws
  • Strong working knowledge of current technologies used in progressive organizations, with ability to identify new solutions and make recommendations
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and impeccable oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to create and deliver presentations to executive management in a clear and compelling manner
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills; able to keep the management team on track with required information available at all times
  • Highly proficient and fully functional in all Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills
  • Demonstrated ability to create and interpret reports related to benefit costs, P&L impact, and generate internal documents for human resources, finance, sales and operations to use for budgeting and client communications
  • Demonstrated skills in exercising sound independent judgment and discretion
  • Proactive problem solving skills; detail oriented
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as within a team environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) certification
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification
  • Previous experience in high volume service or retail industries
  • College degree in business related field of study

BENEFITS:

  • Base Salary: $80,000-$110,000, bonus eligible
  • Medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, retirement plan and disability insurance
  • Eight paid holidays annually, five sick days, and four personal days
  • Vacation time offered at an accrual rate of 3.08 hours biweekly; unused vacation is only paid out where required by law
