Security Officer - Academic Institution Job in Long Island City, New York

As a Security Officer - Academic Institution, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As a Front Desk Security Professional at a higher education location, you will be the welcoming presence for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. You will monitor access, verify credentials, maintain awareness of security-related activity, respond to concerns, and provide exceptional customer service. What You'll Do:
- Provide customer service at a front desk within an educational setting by greeting students, faculty, staff, visitors, and vendors and directing them according to site-specific procedures.
- Monitor access to the location, verify visitor credentials as required, maintain visitor logs, and communicate access concerns to appropriate personnel.
- Respond to incidents, requests for assistance, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established emergency response activities.
- Observe front desk and lobby activity, report suspicious or unauthorized activity, and help to deter unauthorized access through a professional presence.
- Provide clear information regarding building entry procedures, campus resources, and scheduled events while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Minimum Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
