Security Officer Full Time Access Control Job in Norfolk, Virginia

As a Security Officer Full Time Access Control in Norfolk, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. As an Access Control Officer at a university location, you will help create a welcoming, secure environment by monitoring entry points, verifying access credentials, maintaining a visible presence, and communicating professionally with students, staff, and visitors. You will support security-related operations through attentive observation, accurate documentation, and timely reporting of concerns. What You'll Do:
- Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out site-specific access-control procedures, policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Monitor entrances, verify identification and visitor credentials, issue authorized access credentials, and maintain visitor logs in accordance with site procedures.
- Respond to incidents, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating matters to appropriate personnel as needed.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned academic buildings, entrances, and perimeter areas to help identify unauthorized access or security-related concerns.
- Document incidents, observations, and access-control activities accurately and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal leadership and site contacts.
Minimum Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
