As a Security Officer - Warehouse Gatehouse in Plainfield, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Allied Universal Access Control Officer at a busy logistics and distribution location, you will help manage entry and exit points, verify credentials, support visitor and truck driver processing, and maintain accurate activity logs using site systems. You will conduct routine patrols, remain visible to help deter security-related concerns, and communicate clearly with operations teams. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
  • Control entry and exit at designated access points by verifying identification, checking visitor and contractor authorization, and maintaining sign-in and sign-out procedures.
  • Operate gatehouse and/or entry desk processes including issuing temporary credentials, directing authorized traffic flow, and supporting driver check-in for deliveries and pickups.
  • Maintain detailed access control logs and security-related documentation for visitors, vendors, employees, and vehicles, including load and trailer information when required by site policy.
  • Coordinate with site contacts and Allied Universal leadership to confirm access approvals, delivery appointments, and special entry requirements.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, and access control systems and report suspicious activity and/or policy violations in accordance with post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including initiating notifications, documenting events, and requesting assistance when needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of entrances, staging areas, and perimeter zones as assigned to help to deter unauthorized access and/or theft-related activity.
  • Perform basic inspections at entry points such as checking seals and observing vehicle and cargo conditions for irregularities, and escalate concerns per site policy.
  • Communicate clearly with truck drivers, employees, and visitors to provide directions, answer questions, and support orderly site operations.
  • Support emergency procedures such as evacuation support, traffic control, and access restriction during incidents, as directed by site-specific policies.
  • Prepare clear written reports of daily activities, incidents, and irregular conditions and submit documentation per Allied Universal requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
