Security Guard - First Shift Job in Springfield, Illinois

As a Security Officer Unarmed Patrol in Springfield, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a government location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a secure environment. You will communicate professionally with employees and visitors, respond to security-related concerns, and provide outstanding customer service. What You'll Do:
- Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and members of the public at a government facility by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help identify and report unusual conditions, hazards, and unauthorized activity.
- Monitor access points and verify authorization in accordance with site procedures; assist with directing visitors and maintaining orderly entry and exit processes.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and document observations and actions taken.
- Prepare accurate activity, incident, and daily reports while maintaining professional communication with site representatives, visitors, and responding public service personnel.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least one year of security-related experience is required.
- Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- A state, county, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
