As a Security Officer - Unarmed Courthouse Patrol in STATEN ISLAND, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal as an unarmed Patrol Officer at a government location, where you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay visibly present to help reduce security-related incidents. You will document observations, communicate clearly with staff and visitors, and respond professionally to situations as they arise. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to all visitors and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities appropriate to a government administrative location.
  • Control access by checking identification, verifying appointments and/or authorization, issuing visitor credentials, and directing visitors to appropriate service areas.
  • Conduct screening of bags, packages, and/or deliveries as directed by post orders, and document any prohibited or suspicious items per site procedures.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, radios, and/or other monitoring equipment, and report irregular activity according to site protocols.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation, contacting site leadership, and/or requesting public emergency services when needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of interior areas, entrances, service counters, corridors, stairwells, and perimeter areas as permitted by the site, noting hazards and/or unusual conditions.
  • Complete written reports, incident documentation, and activity logs with accurate details and timely submission to site management.
  • Assist with crowd management and orderly queuing during peak service hours, special events, and/or emergency situations.
  • Provide directions and general information to the public while maintaining professional boundaries and following confidentiality expectations common to government offices.
  • Support emergency procedures such as evacuations, shelter-in-place, and/or lockdown actions as directed by site leadership and post orders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have at least 1 year of security experience.
  • Client requires proof of high school diploma or GED.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
