Security Officer General Duty Job in Columbia, South Carolina

As a Security Officer General Duty in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Commercial Real Estate, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Access Control Officer supporting a commercial real estate location. You will monitor entry points, verify credentials, manage badge access, assist visitors and tenants, and document security-related activity while providing exceptional customer service. Help maintain an orderly environment through clear communication, attention to detail, and a visible presence. What You'll Do:
- Provide customer service to tenants, visitors, contractors, and/or property management personnel by carrying out access-control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Monitor access points, verify credentials and visitor authorization, maintain visitor records, and direct guests in accordance with commercial property procedures.
- Respond to incidents, access-control concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and document activities as required.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of building entrances, lobbies, common areas, parking facilities, and the property perimeter to help deter unauthorized access and identify security-related concerns.
- Operate access-control systems, cameras, alarms, and communication equipment; report malfunctions, unusual conditions, and security-related concerns to Allied Universal supervision and/or site management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
- Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- Access control and badge experience is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
