As a Security Officer - Hospital Roving Patrol in Durham, NC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Healthcare, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a leading healthcare location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and remain visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will support staff, patients, and visitors with professional customer service, clear communication, and timely reporting using site technology. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a healthcare location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including coordinating notifications to site leadership, clinical staff, and/or emergency responders per post orders.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior areas, corridors, entrances, waiting areas, and exterior perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Control access by monitoring doors and key access points, verifying authorization when required, and directing patients, visitors, and vendors to appropriate destinations.
  • Monitor and report suspicious activity, unsecured doors, hazards, and unusual conditions; document findings and report concerns to the appropriate site contact.
  • Assist with visitor management tasks such as providing directions, supporting check-in processes when requested, and helping to maintain orderly traffic flow in lobbies and common areas.
  • Support de-escalation efforts during disruptive behavior by using verbal skills, maintaining a professional presence, and requesting additional assistance when needed.
  • Complete detailed incident reports, shift logs, and other required documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with site-specific policies.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and/or access control systems as assigned and report irregularities to the appropriate personnel.
  • Participate in drills and follow emergency procedures for medical emergencies, fire, severe weather, and other site-specific events as directed by post orders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be 21+ years of age.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable using computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
