As a Security Officer - Front Desk Reception in Washington, DC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, Commercial Real Estate, and more. As a Front Desk Officer with Allied Universal at a dynamic education and commercial real estate location, you will welcome visitors, manage access procedures, issue badges, and monitor cameras and alarms. You will document security-related activity, communicate with staff and responders, and deliver a professional first impression. This role supports an agile, reliable, innovative team that puts people first and acts with integrity.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service at the front desk by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities for an education and office environment.
  • Greet, screen, and direct visitors, contractors, and deliveries; issue visitor badges, manage sign-in and sign-out logs, and coordinate with tenant and/or campus contacts for access approval.
  • Monitor access control points and security-related systems such as cameras, alarms, and intercoms; report irregular activity and help to deter unauthorized entry.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including initiating notifications, coordinating with onsite staff, and/or contacting emergency services when needed.
  • Complete detailed shift activity logs and incident reports, document policy violations, and communicate key information during shift turnovers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have 2+ years law enforcement, military police, and/or corrections experience.
  • Be 21+ years of age.
  • Handcuffs, pepper spray, and/or baton experience is preferred.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
